Jennifer L. Strande, MD, PhD

Executive Director, Clinical Development

Dr. Jennifer L. Strande is Executive Director of Clinical Development at Thryv Therapeutics. A physician-scientist whose career spans academic medicine, clinical cardiology, and pharmaceutical development, she has focused on translating advances in human biology into innovative therapies for patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, and rare diseases.

Prior to joining Thryv, Dr. Strande served as Medical Director in Early Development at Amgen, where she led clinical strategy for multiple cardiometabolic development programs from development candidate selection through IND-enabling activities, First-in-Human studies, and Phase 2 planning. She partnered with Discovery, Translational Sciences, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory, Safety, Biostatistics, and Biomarker teams to integrate translational science into clinical development, supporting decisions on target engagement, dose selection, patient selection, and proof-of-concept strategy.

Before joining industry, Dr. Strande was an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she led an NIH-funded research program focused on inherited cardiomyopathies, heart failure, and rare genetic muscle diseases with cardiac involvement. Her research used patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models to investigate disease mechanisms and inform therapeutic development. She served as principal investigator on multiple federally funded research programs, mentored physician-scientists and trainees, and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.

Dr. Strande earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Structural Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and both her M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Loyola University Chicago. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology.
